See the Ohio State Fairgrounds in a whole new light at the spectacular Dragon Lights Columbus Festival at Natural Resources Park six nights a week from November 23 until January 6. More than 40 larger-than-life hand-made lanterns covered with hand-painted silk and illuminated by more than 20,000 twinkling LED lights create a wonderland of brilliant color and culture designed to fill your senses - and put other area holiday light displays to shame! A 200-foot long, multi-story tall, dragon guards the exhibition that also includes nightly stage performances of amazing acrobatics, ancient music and dance. Sixty artisans from China’s Sichuan Province, the cultural capital for the ancient art of lantern-making, spent more than a month in Columbus creating and building the beautiful sculptures on display. Additionally, there’s a demonstration area where artists not only show their skills at thousand-year old crafts like Chinese Inner Painting (painting elaborate designs and calligraphy INSIDE of already made glass bottles), Sugar Painting, Knot Tying, and Chinese Claymaking, but also sell them as unique personalized gifts just in time for the holidays. Come explore the tradition-filled culture and history of China in your backyard right here in Ohio.
