Empower House 5K and Fall festival to benefit local brain injury survivors The Empower House’s Spooktacular 5K and Fall Festival is shaping up to an amazing annual fundraising event. The response from the Quad Cities community has been amazing! The event is the largest fundraiser of the year for Empower House — A Brain injury Clubhouse of the Quad Cities located in Downtown Davenport. Proceeds for the event help support programming for the non-profit. Empower House is the only brain injury Clubhouse in the State of Iowa and supports local brain injury survivors by providing a space three days per week to work on every day tasks and skills in the areas of cooking, business, and maintenance — skills important to thrive in life. They also work on socialization, confidence, independence and problem-solving. The environment provides a positive atmosphere for adult brain injury survivors to continue learning and improving after traditional medical therapy. The festival will run from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. on October 8th at Quinlan Court, 101 East River Drive, Davenport, Iowa. The race is for registered participants (registration for children 10 and under is optional.) There is a team challenge for the race. Anyone, friends, family or coworkers can form a team. Your team could win a prize for the largest team! THE 5K RUN/WALK will be timed this year thanks to Five Cities Financial and will begin at 10 a.m. Participants may run/walk a half or full 5K. Packet pick up will be at Fleet Feet on October 7th in the evening and at Quinlan Court on Ocotober 8 on the morning. Don’t miss the fall festival! Admission to the festival is free and open to the public. LIVE BAND! Special thanks to Common Chord for organizing live music for the day. The Knockoffs will be the headlining live band that day. COME HUNGRY! What BBQ and Bar will be serving BBQ. SMS Soul Food will be serving burgers and hot dogs, also with other items! COME THIRSTY! Front Street Brewery will be pouring for the day. Iron + Grain will have coffee available. SWEET TREATS WILL BE AVAILABLE! Lagomarcino’s will be selling their famous caramel apples. Michelle’s Sweet Treats, LLC from Durant will be back this year with amazing treats, along with additional sweet treat vendors. SHOPPING! There will be a craft and vendor fair with 35 vendors. The mix of vendors is inclusive for anyone, from small independent vendors and crafters to larger businesses. RIDE-IN! The Axemen of the Quad Cities will be hosting a ride-in that day. The Axemen M/C is a firefighter motorcycle club comprised of full time professional firefighters and members of the IAFF who ride for causes throughout the Quad Cities. ALL AGES ARE WELCOME! Children’s activities will be sponsored by the Bettendorf Rotary. It truly will be a great place for anyone to enjoy the day. There is something for everyone!
