The Festival Photography and AI Promo Image Workshop is a free two-day hands-on event for festival organizers, promoters, stage managers, volunteer photo crews and independent creators who need great visuals fast. Over two days at the Austin Convention Center we cover the full festival image pipeline: planning a shot list before gates open, shooting crowds and main-stage performances in difficult mixed lighting, working safely in the photo pit, fast culling and color workflows, and turning a weekend of raw frames into a season of marketing assets.
Day one focuses on capture. Sessions include festival photography basics for volunteers, lens and settings choices for stage light, capturing candid audience moments respectfully, model and crowd release practices, and building a simple naming and backup system so nothing is lost between sets. Day two focuses on production and promotion: editing quickly, designing posters, lineup announcements, social banners and sponsor recap decks, and using generative tools to fill gaps when a headliner photo or a next-year teaser image simply does not exist yet.
In the promo-image lab we walk through prompt writing, aspect ratios for each social platform, style consistency across a campaign, and honest labelling of synthetic imagery. Attendees can follow along live with a browser-based ai image generator and leave with a reusable template set for their own festival. Reference link: https://soralum.com/image-ai/image-generator
Admission is free and open to the public. Bring a camera if you have one, or just a laptop. Sessions run 10:00 am to 5:00 pm both days, with an open critique hour at the end of each afternoon where attendees can bring festival images for feedback from working event photographers and marketing designers.
