This Music Company Orchestra Flag Day Concert will feature patriotic favorites, popular show tunes, light classical music and more! This is an outdoor event, so please bring your lawn chairs and blankets to sit on the lawn. The event will take place RAIN or SHINE. Immediately following the concert (approximately 3:30pm) the picnic will begin. Hot dogs, condiments and drinks will be provided by the General Peter Gansevoort Chapter. If you plan to join us for the picnic please bring a dish to share. The concert and picnic are free to the public.
The concert venue for this event is the Historic Van Schaick Mansion which is the site of the planning of the Battles of Saratoga in 1777. The meticulously manicured grounds and the historic Dutch mansion that was built by the Van Schaick Family in 1755 provide a stunning backdrop for this event that will serve as our inaugural celebration for the upcoming Semiquincentennial Anniversary of The American Revolution.
This event will also offer a unique opportunity to view America's Tapestry New York State Embroidery Panel that is being stitched by members of the New York Capital District Embroiders' Guild of America. To celebrate the 250th anniversary of America, 13 panels representing each of the 13 original colonies have been created and will be stitched in the corresponding states. We are honored to be the host to the New York State panel that was designed in collaboration with the Fraunces Tavern Museum in New York City that illustrates the Birch Trials, which emancipated nearly 3,000 Black Loyalists for their service to the Crown and sent them to Canada.
Please join us as we celebrate America 250!
