Gerry O'Connor- USA Winter Tour

County Louth Fiddle player, Gerry O’Connor, is coming to Albany to perform in the Flanagan Theater at The Irish American Heritage Museum on Friday evening, November 15. Tickets can be purchased online at the Museums website. $25 for members and $30 for non-members. Gerry is a founding member of esteemed groups Lá Lugh and Skylark; has collaborated with many important traditional Irish musicians, notably members of The Chieftains, Boys of the Lough, Planxty, Bothy Band, and De Dannan; has received numerous awards, including several All Ireland awards, over his 40-year professional career; and is a dedicated international teacher of traditional music and styles. In recent years Gerry has been developing his career in North America while touring and recording with the legendary Irish Rovers. The concert is part of a tour of the Northeastern United States with guitarist-fiddle player-singer, Kevin McElroy. Kevin has been playing Irish traditional music since he was a teenager, inspired by his family’s music, dancing, and Irish stories. The museum’s Michael A. Flanagan Musical Heritage Theater is named for traditional musician Michael Flanagan (1897?-1990) by his family who formed a charitable organization in his name to preserve the family’s legacy. Michael Flanagan was one of the three Flanagan Brothers, Irish musicians who found fame performing in dance halls in New York City in the 1920s and 30s. The music of Gerry O’Connor is the perfect fulfillment of the Flanagan mission.
