For fans of the Grateful Dead, The Bonafides will present the music of Jerry Garcia at The Old Theater in Oriental on April 5 at 7:00 PM and April 6 at 3:00 PM. This family-plus-friends band from New Bern, NC, has played this concert to sold-out crowds. With acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, fiddle, bass, drums, banjo, harmonicas and soaring harmonies, The Bonafides never fail to deliver. In this concert, they honor Jerry Garcia, a singer, guitarist, and songwriter who co-founded The Grateful Dead, an American rock band from Palo Alto, California. In 1965, The Grateful Dead was known for their eclectic style that fused elements of rock, blues, jazz, folk, country, bluegrass, rock and roll, gospel, reggae, and world music with psychedelia. The band is famous for improvisation during their live performances and for their devoted fan base known as "Deadheads." Garcia also founded the Jerry Garcia Band in 1975, a side-band that favored a slower, groove-based "bar band" approach strongly oriented toward rhythm and blues, gospel and reggae. Their signature song was "How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You)" and they toured the country performing until Garcia's death in 1995. Come experience The Bonafides giving tribute to one of the greatest musicians in music history.
The newly renovated Old Theater will provide the comfort you deserve and the drinks you desire by donation.
The Box Office will open one hour before the show but don't wait until the last minute to buy tickets. Previous shows have sold out.
