Festival Details - "Harvest Fest 2024"...
Start: Sunday, August 18, 2024 12:00PM
End: Sunday, August 18, 2024 4:00PM
The Yamhill County Historical Society has a weekend of fun planned for all ages! Harvest Fest is a two-day festival with demonstrations of mules working antique equipment to harvest fields; blacksmithing and sawmilling demonstrations; family friendly hands-on history activities such as crop harvesting, threshing, petting animals, pedal tractors, and more; exhibits; delicious food; live music; tours; and much more! This year’s event will also be the maiden voyage for our 1912 Geiser Peerless, a steam traction engine that has been undergoing a complete restoration since 2008. You won’t want to miss seeing our restoration team, a wonderful group of men and women of various ages, taking it out for a drive. They will also be on hand to answer any and all questions about the restoration process.
Harvesting activities on display include threshing with a 1927 Advance Rumley threshing machine, baling using a 1925 John Deere stationary baler, binding using a mule powered 1936 McCormick peering binder, baling using a 1890’s mule powered baler and sack sewing. While the Historical Society has over 80 tractors in its collection, manufactured by a variety of companies, John Deere will be the featured tractor by way of our latest exhibit and outdoor displays.
Yamhill County Historical Society President Dave Rucker says, "The Yamhill Valley Heritage Center has always been a great place to spend time with family and friends, and if I were to choose a prime time for a visit, it would be during our annual Harvest Fest. This event, in particular, has something for everyone and it seems to have the ability to bring all generations together through shared history and root beer floats."
