Festival Details - "Ice Harvest Festival"...
Start: Saturday, February 1, 2025 10:00AM
End: Saturday, February 1, 2025 3:00PM
The Cedar Falls Historical Society is pleased to announce an Ice Harvest Festival that will take place at Big Woods Lake, north shore (1501 East Lake Street, Cedar Falls), on Saturday, February 1, 2025, weather permitting. Watch history come to life as members of the Amish community from the Fairbank area demonstrate ice cutting on the lake. The Ice House Museum has been a special part of our community for 102 years, and we want to use this Festival to honor a rich part of our tradition and history here in Cedar Falls! The Amish still harvest ice to keep food cold.
There will be two ice-harvesting demonstrations – one at 10:00 am and one at 1:00 pm. Other activities, including ice carving and blacksmithing demonstrations, snow shoeing, kids activities, and more, will take place from 10:00-noon and 1:00-3:00. Food will be available from Moment in Thyme for a free will donation.
The alternate date for this event is Saturday, February 8, 2025 if weather conditions are not favorable on the 1st.
