It's All in the Bag: Designer Handbag Silent Auction and Raffle Wilmington (NC) Delta Sigma Theta

The Wilmington (NC) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., a public service organization which promotes academic excellence and assistance to those in need has been serving the Cape Fear community since 1940. We are excited to announce our upcoming fundraiser, "It's All in The Bag," a silent auction and raffle of luxury handbags to benefit our scholarship fund and other community-based programs. While this event's focus is on college scholarships to both high school students and non-traditional adult students who want to further their education, the Deltas serve Brunswick, Pender, and New Hanover County in a variety of ways. We provide holiday baskets and monetary gifts to senior citizens; monetary and in-kind donations to domestic violence organizations; physical and mental health awareness workshops and radio announcements; and our traditional Social Action platform which includes voter education and registration, informational forums and civic education. The Deltas support Eden Village by sponsoring the community's laundry room, and have strong youth programs focused on providing cultural and educational experiences for middle and high school students. The chapter is embarking on its 85th year of serving the community, having been recognized by the NHC Board of Commissioners in 2024 for Women's History Month for its founding members' historic 1960's purchase of the "Delta House" located at 401 N. 7th Street. The chapter in collaboration with its non-profit entity, The Delta Foundation of the Cape Fear, continues to make its mark in the Cape Fear Region via Sisterhood, Scholarship, Service, and Social Action which will culminate in an 85th Anniversary Gala on May 23, 2025.
