Festival Details - "Jane's Walk Festival Vancouver"...
Start: Thursday, May 1, 2025 5:00PM
End: Sunday, May 4, 2025 4:00PM
Vancouverites are invited to lead walking ‘dialogues’ about the neighbourhoods they love, for our annual Jane’s Walk Festival on May 1st, 2nd, 3th and 4th. The Jane’s Walk Festival is an international festival of free citizen-led walking tours that take place in over 200 cities around the world. Vancouver’s Jane’s Walk Festival features collaborations between architects and planners, community gardeners and schools, artists and local residents.
The annual festival is in memory of the late activist and urbanist Jane Jacobs. Jane’s Walks are based on Jacobs’ idea that “cities have the capability of providing something for everybody, only because, and only when, they are created by everybody.”
Jane’s Walk is a grassroots organization honouring the legacy of community builder Jane Jacobs through citizen-led walking tours that encourage participants to observe, reflect, share, question, and collectively reimagine the places in which they live, work and play.
We invite you to showcase your favourite neighbourhoods, cultural spots, your favourite things about Vancouver, or even host an art/poetry workshop as part of your walk. Anyone can lead a walk, no experience or expertise is necessary! It just takes having an open heart to dialoguing with others in our communities while walking on our beautiful streets.
