Saturday, September 20th, 2025, is the 18th annual “Kids Day Maricopa” The event promotes Health, Safety, and Environmental Awareness. Dr John A. Donohue and The Maricopa Rotary will be hosting and coordinating the event from 10:00 am until 4:00 pm at Maricopa Wells Middle School 45725 W Honeycutt Ave, Maricopa, AZ 85139. The Mayor signed a proclamation dedicating the 3rd Sat of Sept. as “Kids Day” in the City of Maricopa. Ak Chin Chairman Miguel, City of Maricopa Police Chief Mark Goodman, City Council Eric Gottel, Vincent Manfredi, Amber Lierman, Henry Wade, Superintendent Tracey Lopeman State Representative Tresa Martinez, Media Christian Price, Former Senator Steve Smith are speaking at the event. The event will provide essential information on crime prevention, child safety, wellness, and environmental awareness, etc. The Maricopa Police Department will be on hand to bring Police cars, Police motorcycles, K-9 “Karma” and SWAT special unit. There will be special appearances by Former Globe Trotter “Anthony Blakes” “Smokey Bear”, “Baxter”, "Scorch and other loved characters. The Phoenix Suns Street Team will be bringing fun and prizes. The Maricopa & Ak-Chin Fire Department is bringing a fire truck and teaching fire safety and car seat safety. Electrical District 3 will teach electrical power safety. Ak Chin Health services will teach diabetes prevention and health awareness with special guest native performer Roman Orona. The City of Maricopa will have the Emergency Response Team “CERT” and their Big Rigs present. There will be Bicycle safety with the Maricopa PD Community Action Team and Phoenix Children Hospital, Drug Awareness with the Be Awesome Coalition & Pinal County Attorney. Pinal County Sheriff’s Dept. will have their Humvee and Rescue division. CPR will be taught by Exceptional Hospital. Healthy Eating and Exercise will be taught by SunLife and Southwestern Pediatrics. Learn how to grow your own garden with Ace Hardware and The Master Gardeners. Performance with ATA Kids Karate, D.S.P.A., REI Chandler & Boy Scout Camping, Polynesian Dancers, Tae Yang’s Taekwondo, Maricopa High School “Divisi” Choir will be performing. More activities such as United Way of Pinal County Reading, Boys & Girls Club and 4H petting zoo and so much more. “We provide Free food, Free drink and Free balloons for everyone. There will be special Give-aways and Free prize drawings of toys, bicycles, and other exciting surprises throughout the event. The event is Free, and especially exciting to have Maricopa very own 4-H Club & Desert Grown Reptiles, teaching kids all about animals & Reptiles. Maricopa’s Finest, CERT and AMR emergency services will be demonstrating emergency rescue.
