King James I is ready to welcome guests to his 17th century shire in the woods as the Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire returns for its 20th season. During the first two weekends of November, faire goers will step back into England in 1604 for an immersive history lesson that includes nine stages with non-stop entertainment including period musicians, comedians and performers, as well as games, jousting, food and beverages. This year's event will debut Pendragon's Labyrinth, a dragon-themed maze that children of all ages will enjoy. Located in Tavares, near Lake Idamere, the Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire is scheduled November 6, 7, 13 and 14, each day from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Tickets at the gate are $17 for adults (18 and up) and $10 for children (age 4 – 17). Children 3 and under are free. Patrons can purchase tickets in advance online and enjoy reduced rates by visiting https://lakerenfaire.com/tickets. “Since the Lake Ren Faire began, we have offered a special experience for school groups to get a memorable history lesson at our event,” said Carman Cullen, Executive Director of the Education Foundation of Lake County. “Based on the no field trip policy currently in effect for Lake County School students, we have made the decision to incorporate Ed Day into Saturday, November 6 instead of a standalone on Friday, November 5. The same discounted rate that we extend to students and teachers will be offered that day.” Event special discount days include: Saturday, November 6 – Students and Teachers Day - Lake County Schools employees and students pay $5 with valid school ID. Homeschooled students can also pay $5 at the gate with with valid ID. Sunday, November 7 – Senior Day – Patrons age 62 and up pay $8 entry. Sunday, November 14 – Veterans Day – Veterans and active military pay $8 with valid military ID. These special discount tickets can be purchased at the gate on the day of the event only. Faire-goers are invited to participate in the King’s Crusade Interactive Game where they will help the Royal Guard discover who is behind the plot to assassinate the King. Participants can ask for a game card upon entry to the festival which directs them to find cast members who will reveal clues to the mystery. The popular festival is the largest fundraiser for the Education Foundation of Lake County, the direct support organization for Lake County Schools, providing financial support for programs that include Teacher Classroom Grants, Back to School Backpack Distributions, Take Stock in Children, Apple-Mart shops for teachers, Teacher of the Year, and much more. The 2020 festival was moved to a virtual setting due to the pandemic. “While we were happy to offer a special version of the Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire last year, having a virtual event severely impacted our fundraising efforts for the teachers and students who depend on the foundation’s support each year,” said Cullen-Batt. “We are excited to bring back this event which not only benefits local schools but has also provided a $2.5 million economic impact on our county.” Details about the Lady of the Lakes Renaissance Faire and how to get there are available at https://LakeRenFaire.com.
