The original musical compositions of Americana singer/songwriters Lana Puckett and Kim Person have been described as "music written in the key of life." Lana and Kim are a gifted female duo, and are well known for their vocal styles, intricate guitar skills and amazing vocal harmonies. This long time writing and performance team has garnered an impressive list of career accomplishments, including First Place Country Vocalist Winner in the International American Songwriter Festival/Columbia Recording Artist Search, among others. Their most notable achievement may be having their song "Cornstalk Pony" recorded by legendary singer/songwriter, Steve Gillette.
George Turman played his first paying gig ($5) at the Grace Street Pizza Inn as a teenager in the 1960s. After college and years playing in the mountain west, George returned to Richmond and has been at the center of the Richmond folk music scene ever since. In addition to playing at the Boathouse for nearly 30 years, George has appeared more often at SGCH than any other performer, and has also been a regular at Ashland Coffee and Tea, and the Tin Pan, all venues that promote listening and give him the chance to showcase his 60's folk-inspired roots, including Bob Dylan, Peter, Paul and Mary, Joan Baez, Dave Van Ronk and others.
