Handel composed his stately Water Music in 1717 for King George I, who was so delighted with its first performance that he demanded it be played over again! Haydn’s ground-breaking Trumpet Concerto sees a welcome return to Thaxted for leading trumpeter Matilda Lloyd. The programme is completed by Mozart’s ever popular and uplifting Symphony No 40 in G minor, making this an opening night not to be missed.
