ALIEEP Kite Festival & Lunar New Year Community Celebration
Join ALIEEP for our annual Kite Festival and Lunar New Year Community Celebration, a vibrant, family friendly outdoor event that brings together people of all ages to celebrate culture, education, creativity, and community. This signature event highlights ALIEEP’s mission of promoting multicultural understanding, global education, and meaningful community partnerships across Alabama.
The Kite Festival offers a fun and engaging experience for families, students, educators, and community members. Attendees will enjoy kite flying and kite making activities, interactive arts and crafts, cultural demonstrations, educational exhibits, and entertainment. Guests are encouraged to bring their own kites or participate in on site kite decorating and crafting stations provided by ALIEEP and community partners.
Throughout the afternoon, visitors will experience presentations representing diverse cultures and traditions. These may include music, dance, storytelling, and cultural showcases connected to Lunar New Year and global heritage. The festival also features local vendors, nonprofit organizations, and small businesses offering food, refreshments, handmade items, and informational resources.
The event provides an opportunity to learn more about ALIEEP’s educational programs, including international teacher placement, language and literacy initiatives, youth leadership development, and community engagement efforts. Attendees will have the chance to meet ALIEEP staff, educators, interns, and volunteers who work year round to strengthen educational and cultural opportunities in the region.
Children and youth will enjoy dedicated activity areas with games, crafts, and supervised learning stations designed to promote creativity and cultural awareness. Adults may explore vendor booths, and network with community partners.
The Kite Festival also serves as a platform to celebrate Lunar New Year traditions, symbolizing renewal, hope, and unity. Through decorations, themed activities, and cultural elements, attendees can learn about the significance of the holiday while enjoying a welcoming and festive environment.
This event is designed to be inclusive, accessible, and welcoming to all members of the community, regardless of background or experience. Whether you are attending for the first time or returning as a longtime supporter, the ALIEEP Kite Festival offers a meaningful opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate together.
The festival encourages community involvement and volunteer participation. Local schools, universities, civic groups, and organizations are invited to take part through booths, sponsorships, and collaborative activities. These partnerships help strengthen relationships between education, culture, and community development.
