Lyons Riverfest featuring the Duck Frenzy 500

Count down begins for the Duck Frenzy 500 featured at Lyons Riverfest. Plans are well underway for the 3rd annual Lyons Riverfest featuring the Duck Frenzy 500. Mark your calendar for Saturday August 19th. Hosted by Lyons For A Better Neighborhood(L4BN), 501c3 community service organization, the festivities will begin at 11:00am in Riverview Park, 1588 Mill St., Lyons. This family friendly event has been an ongoing means to bring the community together in a spirit of neighborly camaraderie. This year's event kicks off with the Fall Arts and Craft Fair featuring over 25 handpicked vendors selling unique art and craft items. Something for everyone. Donuts & More will be on hand to serve up coffee, donuts and other special treats. The Lyons Center PTO manning the food stand will be featuring Pulled Pork Sandwiches compliments of Wilson Farm Meats, fresh roasted corn compliments of Geneva Lakes Produce, brats, and hotdogs. They will also be selling chances on Raffle Baskets to benefit the Lyons Center PTO projects. Throughout the day, Riverfest will offer a wide variety of FREE activities for the kids: The "Just Ducky" Coloring Contest sponsored by Community State Bank will award 1 winner in each of 4 age categories a $25.00 gift card. Coloring sheets can be found on L4BN web-site or pickup day of event. Crayons will be on hand for all the little artists. Other good old fashioned fun includes the infamous Barrel Train Rides(kids or adults), Bounce House, Pie Eating Contest, Hula Hoop Contest, Three Legged Race, and Kickball coordinated by the Lyons town chairman. New this year in the adult activities area will be a Euchre Tournament. Get your team together or come solo there is plenty of room at the table for everyone. 3 Bag Toss Tournaments will be held at 12, 3 and 6 please arrive one half hour early to get registered. And… back by popular demand…. Mallard Wack. Gravity of Youth will kick off the evening musical festivities at 4:00pm. Followed up by Tim Castle & Dale Sellers from Tribute to Country Legends. Since its inception more residents of the community have stepped forward to become involved and expand from this one project. With the increased interest the organization obtained 501c3 status in the Fall of 2019. Their mission is to enrich the community by empowering individuals and developing a welcoming environment.
