Come out to support the Tate House Museum on September 26th, 5:30-8:30 PM, for a fundraiser generously hosted by the Osher Map Library. Guests will have the opportunity to view colonial maps and historic globes and later attend an illustrated talk by Professor Matthew Edney: "Mapping Colonial New England in Manuscript and Print." The event includes a wine/cheese and dessert reception on the upper floor of Glickman Library with expansive views of Portland.
As part of our fundraiser, Tate House Museum will raffle two reproduction prints from its collections including a 1946 map of Portland and a beautiful Hogarth engraving "Night." We will also auction a framed facsimile of a rare 1720 antiquarian map of Casco Bay by Cyprian Southack.
