Start: Sunday, November 3, 2024 3:00PM
End: Sunday, November 3, 2024 5:00PM

'REQUIEM: What Remains is Love' by Maria Riccio Bryce, will be performed at St. Luke's Roman Catholic Church, 1241 State St. in Schenectady on Sunday, November 3 at 3 PM.

Maria is an acclaimed composer/ lyricist, known for her powerful musical memorialization of the Schenectady Massacre of 1690, HEARTS OF FIRE.

Her Requiem is a mesmerizing choral work that blends traditional Requiem Mass settings with evocative songs about Life, Death, and the Afterlife.

The piece premiered triumphantly at St. Luke's in November 2022, and, since then, has developed a following, with performances at various churches throughout the Capital District. A Masterwork performance by Siena College is planned for March 2025.

The upcoming performance will feature a specially -created chorus of 32 voices, with soloists Ann Marie Adamick, John Allen, C. Fred Schwartz, Andrew Bryce, and Kelly Blitz, amongst others.

One of the songs in the Requiem is entitled SOLDIER. It tells the story of a young man who loses his life on the battlefield. The song is particularly apt as Veterans Day approaches, and Devin Canavally, a 25 year old bass from Latham, performs it magnificently.

'REQUIEM: What Remains is Love' celebrates the mystery, honors the faith, mourns the losses, and sings the glory of invincible love. As the autumn leaves swirl around us and the smoky evening descends, we hold each other close....and we remember.

Don't miss your chance to experience this extraordinary masterpiece. It is an unforgettable musical journey that will touch your soul.

There is no charge for this performance, but Freewill offerings are gratefully accepted.
