Festival Details - "MINDING THE GAP: Poverty, homelessness, and restoring our broken mental health system"...

Start: Wednesday, October 23, 2024 4:00PM
End: Wednesday, October 23, 2024 6:00PM

We've long understood that accessible and appropriate behavioral health services are a critical tool for supporting the wellbeing and success of our most vulnerable neighbors, particularly those who’ve experienced poverty, homelessness, and other forms of trauma. Nonetheless, barriers to culturally competent care continue to plague our health care systems, leading agencies like Solid Ground to embed services within our programs through partnerships and other initiatives.

In Solid Ground's latest Social Justice Salon, MINDING THE GAP: Poverty, homelessness, and restoring our broken mental health system, you’ll hear a panel conversation that explores how our community navigates the intersections of poverty, race, culture, social/emotional wellbeing, behavioral health, and homelessness. Panelists include:

DeAunte Damper (Moderator) – Co-chair, WA Therapy Fund; Community Organizer, VOCAL-WA; and Host, Converge Media’s We Live in Color –

Johnny Bousquet, Participant Support Specialist Supervisor, CoLEAD – Purpose. Dignity. Action. (PDA)

Phillip Carr, CEO and Clinical Director, Good Intentions Counseling

Susan McLaughlin, Director of the Behavioral Health and Recovery Division, King County Department of Community and Human Services

Paul Park, Senior Director of Programs, Solid Ground

Alix Van Hollebeke, Director of Nursing, Downtown Emergency Service Center (DESC)
