Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart – Serenade No. 10 for Winds, also known as Gran Partita
Among the many significant works from this period is Mozart's Serenade No. 10 for Winds in B-flat major, K. 361/370a, known as the Gran Partita. It is a towering masterpiece in the chamber music repertoire, comprising seven movements, this serenade is scored for an ensemble of twelve wind instruments and a double bass; pairs of oboes, clarinets, basset horns, and bassoons, four horns, and double bass.
The composition, which likely dates from 1781 or 1782, is distinguished by its symphonic character, depth, and breadth of expression, demonstrating the versatility and expressiveness of wind instruments.
