Festival Details - "Music "En Plein Air" with Jesse Lewis and Friends"...

Start: Saturday, April 25, 2026 2:00PM
End: Saturday, April 25, 2026 3:30PM

Immerse yourself in music, art, and nature with an outdoor performance overlooking the Palisades. Guitarist Jesse Lewis and vibraphonist and composer Chris Dingman create spontaneous compositions of ambient music in response to the seasonal landscape, inspired by Hudson River School paintings, as well as Impressionist Childe Hassam’s "Summer Sea, Isles of Shoals." You’re encouraged to engage deeply by sketching, writing, and reflecting on this multisensory, meditative experience. Capacity is limited. In order to ensure participation, please arrive early in order to be seated. Recommended for ages 18+. Can’t make this event? Mark your calendars for the next one: Sunday, June 7, 2–3:30pm Jesse Lewis is a New York–based guitarist known for ambient music that blends instrumental textures with natural soundscapes, incorporating elements like birdsong and wind into his improvisations. Described by The New York Times as “an articulate ace” and by Stereophile Magazine as “a poet of the steel string,” he is a versatile collaborator across jazz, world music, pop, and electronica. Lewis has performed at premier venues including the Blue Note, Birdland, Carnegie Hall, and major international festivals. Chris Dingman is a vibraphonist and composer known for his distinctive, sonically rich, and expansive sound. He worked with legendary artists Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter, as well as next generation visionaries such as Linda Oh, Ambrose Akinmusire, Steve Lehman, and many others, performing around the world. Dingman has been profiled by NPR, The New York Times, AMNY, and many other publications, and has received fellowships and grants from the Chamber Music America, the Doris Duke Foundation, New Music USA, South Arts, and the Herbie Hancock Institute (formerly the Thelonious Monk Institute). Hailed by The New York Times as a “dazzling” soloist and a composer with a “fondness for airtight logic and burnished lyricism,” the fluidity of his musical approach has earned him praise as “an extremely gifted composer, bandleader, and recording artist” (Jon Weber, NPR). Support provided by Art Bridges.
