Next Stop BROADWAY | Summer Theatre at PPAC

Next Stop BROADWAY® transports participants to the "Golden Age of Broadway" for a rigorous, five-day immersion into musical theatre. The cast learns the music and choreography of iconic chorus numbers from the catalogue of a selected composer each year. The week culminates in experiencing the thrill of an Opening Night performance held on Friday from 5-7 PM for families and friends. Through workshops, classes, and rehearsals, the cast will tap their creativity, build their skills, and cultivate their passion all in the context of collaborating and fostering friendships with their fellow cast members -- right here on the stage of PPAC, one of the nation's foremost and storied independent theaters! All participants are part of the ensemble: there are no lead roles. Cast members work in four age-based groups and the final performance includes numbers involving individual groups, pairs of groups, and the whole cast.

Next Stop is a full-day program. Cast members arrive by 8:45 AM, and the program ends at 5 PM daily (7 PM on Friday). As an intensive, cast members are engaged in learning and rehearsing material for 90% or more of the program. All needed supplies and materials are provided, as well as daily snacks. Lunch is now provided on Friday only; participants should pack lunch on the other days. There is a Zoom orientation for parents and guardians a week or two before the program.

Next Stop BROADWAY® is designed for the success of cast members with or without prior musical theater experience. No auditions are required. Given the intensive nature of the program, sincere interest in singing, acting, dancing, and/or performing is strongly recommended.
