April is Jazz Appreciation Month. It was established in 2001 by the Smithsonian National Museum of American History to recognize jazz as a uniquely American art form.
North East Florida Jazz Association – NEFJA’s featured artist for this event will be Dr. Longineau Parsons, a world-class trumpeter, composer, conductor, and educator whose artistry reflects both a deep respect for jazz history and a fearless commitment to its continued growth. He is a direct connection with the living history of jazz. Dr. Longineau Parsons has performed with legendary Dizzy Gillespie, Nat Adderley, Cab Calloway, Sun Ra, and Philly Joe Jones. His collaborations also extend to influential voices such as Herbie Mann, Archie Shepp, and Frank Foster of the Count Basie Orchestra, as well as celebrated vocalist Nancy Wilson.
The Longineau Parsons Quintet will perform on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 4-6 pm at the Palm Coast United Methodist Church, 6500 Belle Terre Pkwy. Ticket price is $50.
