After several years of disrupted plans, cancelled events and virtual replacement event, it will so great to get back together again in-person for the 37th Annual North Georgia Folk Festival on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at Sandy Creek Park in Athens, Georgia. Featured musical performers for this years’ festival include Rebecca Sunshine Band, Ain't Sisters & Danielle Howle, Bichos Vivos, Athens Mountain Singers, Art Rosenbaum, Hog-Eyed Man, Veronika Jackson, The Lucky Jones, MrJordanMrTonks, Cicada Rhythm, Tin Cup Prophette, Marion Montgomery and Glyn Denham, and Fester Hagood.
Festival artists, traditional craft demonstrators, and food vendors are lined up as well. A new feature of the festival this year will be “Pottery Row” within the art area. Potters participating so far include Allen Gee, Camren Gober, Sue Lawrence, Mary Mayes, Kathy Miller, Caroline Montague, and Todd McGlaun. Craft demonstrators include Rebecca Gilliard (Sweet Grass Baskets), Beth Zorbanos (Corn shuck dolls), Rosa Hall (handmade brooms), and Cricket Bancroft (toys and art from found and recycled objects). The potters will be joined by art vendors Lisa Pickett (herbal soaps), Meredyth Howard (crochet and knitting), Carolyn Dalusky (jewelry), Theresa Gorman (folk art), and Ashley Sobhani (purses).
Food and refreshments will be provided by Biggum’s Bar-B-Que, Aunt Jack's P-Nut Shack, La Michoacana Es Natural Ice Cream Truck, Rashe's Cuisine, Skye Burger, Jittery Joe’s Coffee. Finally, we will have the Water Monster set up with ice water to refill your water bottles.
Kids activities include music and arts and crafts, as well as the ever-popular dinosaur playground at Sandy Creek Park. It is going to be a fine day in the Park. Make your plans today to join us.
This fun-filled, family-friendly day in the park offers children's activities, traditional arts and crafts demonstration and sales, and good food all day long from 11:00 until dark. Music starts at 12:00 PM with special music for kids by the Rebecca Sunshine Band and then goes until 9:00 PM with performers on two stages.
Adult tickets are $15 and student (with ID) are $8. Children under 12 are admitted free. Additional park admission is $2 per person ages 4-64.
