Oita Japan Festival #OitaATX

Attendees will experience JPOP, Japanese drumming, Rakugo Japanese comedy, Japanese shodo dance calligraphy, modern-rock shamisen Japanese guitar, dancing, sumo, martial arts, kendo, jyuku, kyudo, a tea ceremony, kimono dressing, doing business in Japan and making sushi seminars, a talk on Japanese gardening, and an artisan and festival marketplace. The featured performers are from Austin's sister city of Oita, Japan. The festival is sponsored by the Austin-Oita Sister City Committee (AOSCC). AOSCC’s mission is to promote and heighten public interest in and appreciation of the culture, people, languages, businesses, and products between the City of Austin and Oita, Japan. Oita, one of Austin’s 13 Sister Cities, has been a Sister City to Austin since 1990. Children younger than 3 admitted free. This project is supported in part by the City of Austin Economic Development.
