The Old Capitol Blues & BBQ festival stirs up the bluesy sounds and smoky scents in downtown Springfield every August. Facilitated by a group of local music lovers, the best blues bands are searched out all year. This year’s line-up is comprised of (Friday) The Mary Jo Curry Band, Jason Elmore and Hoodoo Witch, and the Nick Moss Band with special guests featuring Anson Funderburgh.
On Saturday, it’s Kapital Sound (an 11 piece band including horns!), Josh Hoyer and Soul Colossal, and headliner Curtis Salgado!
Barry Friedman of the Old Capitol Blues & BBQ says “Our headliner Curtis Salgado is known as a blues icon and is incredible to see live! He’s an award-winning vocalist who’s been in the Robert Cray Band and Santana, and was the inspiration for John Belushi’s ‘The Blues Brothers’! He’s a fantastic entertainer!!”.
A variety of succulent BBQ will be available from an array of vendors, as will be domestic and craft beers, cocktails, wines, and soft drinks.
Admission is $15 at the gates on both nights and tickets for food and drink will also be available for purchase. Find us on Facebook.
