Described as ‘Britain’s most musical family’, the Kanneh-Masons are seven brothers and sisters from Nottingham, from 11 to 24 years old, who all play either violin, piano or cello. The third eldest, Sheku, won BBC Young Musician in 2016 and shot to fame after performing at the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. His sister Isata won the Leonard Bernstein prize in 2021 and has released two chart-topping solo albums. And collectively the family delighted millions with their livestreamed performances during lockdown, a project captured by a recent BBC Imagine documentary.
‘Music teaches you so much – listening, hard work, perseverance – whether you want to pursue music as a career or just for fun’ Braimah Kanneh-Mason
