QUINFEST 2022 - CHARITY FAMILY EVENT

Here is a little info on our festival and why it came about. If you don’t know already Quinfest is a family-friendly charity festival and is dedicated to our beautiful Amy Quin. Amy visited her doctor to try to get to the bottom of severe headaches and was told that they were caused by tension. This didn’t ring true as she didn’t feel stressed about anything yet the headaches continued for about six months. It was 13th May 2016 that Amy was told she had a grade two astrocytoma, a low-grade brain tumor. Which resulted in a grade four in December of 2019. Other than the headaches she felt well, and it just didn’t seem possible that there was a potentially terminal illness. Amy’s diagnosis had changed her life in a positive way – She said yes to more things; embraced in every opportunity and made the most of her precious time. Amy was just 36 years young when she passed away in January 2020, just 4.5 years after her diagnosis. We raised money for brain tumor support at Quinfest 2019 to support this terrible illness. Amy spent time at Poole Hospital and was overwhelmed by the support she received from the Sandbanks ward and the Palliative department working with Marie Curie and Forset Holme. We will be raising money to make a difference in the three departments at Quinfest 2022. Amy lived in Dorset and loved live music and dancing, Quinfest will be her legacy and this is the perfect way to remember our fun-loving Amy, we hope you all can enjoy the day, unfortunately, she will not be here to enjoy it this time but I am sure she will be dancing her socks off upstairs. Amy has left behind her parents, her son Hector, sisters, partner, friends and family, and we all miss her deeply. All proceeds from ticket sales will be shared between The Sandbanks Ward, Marie Curie and Forest Holme Palliative to help towards the department Amy was in during her final weeks.
