The Sarasota Int'l Chalk Festival is a jubilation of art and creativity, when world renowned pavement artists travel from all over the world to create oversized pavement paintings using chalk, as well as mind-blowing 3-D illusion inspiring wonder and memorable experiences for you. This year a new ephemeral art form will be added, ‘Flower Carpets’, an art form celebrated all over the world using real flowers, flower petals and other natural grains and materials to make tapestries on the ground. Together with you, these artists will turn S. Pineapple Avenue in historic Burns Square, downtown Sarasota into a ‘Museum in Motion’ as you the view becomes an integral part of their creative process. Artists with a diverse array of styles begin their artwork on Friday, November 8 and complete their masterpieces by the end of the day on Saturday, November 9. While the 3D illusion room artists will be completing they work on Friday by the end of the day, there will be plenty of completed 3-D illusions on opening day for you to interact with and take photos. Sunday, November 10 is a viewing day, but do not wait till the end to view these amazing works of art. Starting around 4:30 PM a puppet parade celebration, crafted by the artists with fantastical masks, human puppets, and stilt walkers, using Florida flora and fauna as inspiration, will walk over the artwork as we close out the event by 7:00 PM. Tickets range from $0 - $150 with the average price being $20 for adult and $10 for students online for a limited time. Prices are double at the gate so get your tickets now while the discount is available. By Sunday at midnight the roads will be washed and all the artwork will be gone!
