Excitement is building in Tameside as StalyFest is fast approaching. The two-day music festival features household name acts and will bring something new and exciting to an area that has a reputation for being sleepy. Taking place at Bower Fold, the iconic home of Stalybridge Celtic FC, tickets are now on sale and full details of the line-ups and ticket arrangements can be found at www.stalyfest.co.uk. Paul Bowden, co-owner of the football club says that “Bringing the festival to Stalybridge is exciting for everyone connected to the club. The event will put the team and the town firmly on the map and bring in much needed revenue to us and the wider community. It’s simply going to be huge!” Friday 9 th May On Friday Night, Stalyfest will recreate a banging club-scene with an event hosted by Danny B. Majestic , who headlines, is perhaps best known for his remix of Boney M’s classic “Rasputin” and has been a huge name on the Club and dance scene over the last two decades. Majestic is supported by both Ellie Sax – who tours with her saxophone at the biggest clubs all over the world - and StephaniB – whose mix of drumming and DJing is sure to create an amazing atmosphere in the heart of Tameside. Further support comes from DJs Tristan Walsh, Chris J Frater, and Will Anthony. Closing the night at the after-party we will have Tristan Walsh and Danny B Saturday 10 th May On Saturday the ground will be filled with indie rock legends. Our host, Tameside Radio’s Laura Beth, will be introducing our joint headliners Cast and Starsailor, and our exciting mix of supporting acts. Locals from Wigan and Leigh, Starsailor are currently celebrating 25 years of their debut Platinum selling album. They are best known for their 2003 single 'Silence Is Easy', which reached number 9 in the UK, and 'Four to the Floor', which reached number one in France as well as the top five in Australia. The band have released six studio albums with their first album Love Is Here released in 2001, followed by Silence Is Easy (2003) and On the Outside (2005). Good Souls: The Greatest Hits was released in September 2015 and featured two new songs. A fifth studio album All This Life was released in 2017, followed by Where The Wild Things Grow in 2024 hitting 25 in the album charts. For the joint headline slot we have Liverpool’s finest Cast with 2 Platinum albums alongside a host of top-10 singles - have hit the headlines in recent weeks, as they have been confirmed as one of the key support acts for the forthcoming Oasis reunion tour – playing at all 19 dates over the Summer. With hits such as ‘Walkaway’ ,‘Alright’, ‘Sandstorm’, ‘Finetime’ and ‘Guiding Star’ the crowd are guaranteed for a set of legendary hits. Supports include Nigel Clark front man of Dodgy playing hits such as ‘Good Enough’ and Staying Out For the summer’, and Chris Helme front man of The Seahorses. Plus Oasis Supernova, Oasis tribute act playing all their major hits Further support comes from The Beatles Dub Club (a reggae/ska style Beatles DJ groove), The Rolling People (Stockport-based indie band), Cobain Jones (one of Stalybridge’s own), and Plastic Heart (alt-rock band from Manchester). And we’re delighted to have Clint Boon (Inspiral Carpets) entertaining the fortunate guests who secure tickets for the late-night “after party” when the festival winds down. Jo Lowes had this to say about the acts “The local area is known for having dedicated music fans so being able to bring legendary live acts such as Starsailor as part of their 25 year anniversary tour along with Cast is huge boost for the area. The site is perfect for a festival and is very each to reach from all of Greater Manchester. We have big plans for the festival moving forward but our first line up is something we are all hugely proud of.’ Charity & Community Stalyfest is delighted to have named The Christie Charity as it’s charity partner for the event. Nigel Jones, the club Chairman explained that “virtually everyone in the region will know someone who has relied on the amazing Christie Hospital at a time of need, so we are so excited to name The Christie Charity as our partner for our first festival. We will be able to give the charity plenty of opportunities to share their profile alongside the Stalyfest brand and raise all important funds at the same time”.
