Summer Solstice Trail Run: 3 mile, 5 mile or 8 mile

The 3 mile loop follows the White Trail, which zig-zags through Gay City State Park. The trail starts as a wide access road with few bumps along the way. About a mile into the race the trail narrows, be prepared to encounter more rocks and roots and a few down hills and climbs. After crossing the Blackledge River participants climb the Blue Trail and then onto the road before finishing where they began.

The 5 mile course traverses several trails within the Gay City State Park network. The course will start in the upper athletic fields and follow the White Trail for the first 1.5 miles before splitting from the 3 mile. The route then follows the Orange and Red Trails for the next several miles, before splitting onto the Yellow and then Blue Trail to finish. Be prepared to encounter a lot of rocks and roots and several ups and downs throughout the course. Runners will emerge from the Blue Trail and turn onto the main road before finishing back where they began.

The 8 mile course is a two loop race that first follows the 5 mile course within the trail network of Gay City State Park, then follows the 3 mile course, which zig-zags through the park's interior. The course will start in the upper athletic fields and follow the White Trail for the first 1.5 miles. The route then follows the Orange and Red Trails for the next several miles, before splitting onto the Yellow and then Blue Trail. Once the 5 mile loop is complete, runners will reenter the forest back onto the White Trail to complete a second loop of the 3 mile course.

The 8 Mile race is part of the 2025 Blue-Blazed Trail Running Series and the USATF-CT Mountain, Ultra and Trail (MUT) series - a competition for teams of three to run the trails with a chance to win prize money.
