The Bay Players of Duxbury present RIPCORD by David Lindsay-Abaire

The Bay Players are thrilled to announce their upcoming production of David Lindsay-Abaire’s acclaimed play RIPCORD, running October 25 through November 2, 2024. This sharp, comedic exploration of friendship and rivalry will take the stage at First Parish Church in Duxbury, promising an unforgettable theatrical experience.

RIPCORD: It’s seniors behaving badly! Two residents of a retirement community - upbeat newcomer Abby and cantankerous longtime occupant Marilyn - lock in a battle of wills as they engage in a series of increasingly ridiculous bets. Their outrageous and escalating game of one-upmanship (or is it up-woman-ship?) unfolds as a heartwarming tale of unexpected friendship and the struggles of facing one’s fears. Lindsay-Abaire masterfully blends humor with poignant moments, creating a rich tapestry that resonates with audiences of all ages. There’s a haunted house, a mugging, even a parachute jump - hey, it’s not called RIPCORD for nothing! 

“Ripcord is a delightful reminder that no matter what our age, the desire for connection and laughter is timeless,” said Michael Pevzner, veteran Bay Player and director of the production. “Our talented cast is ready to bring this clever script to life, showcasing both the hilarity and depth of these characters.”

The cast is led by longtime South Shore favorites JANE CARTIER and ELIZABETH MORRELL, and also includes RYAN GUIMARES, ELIZABETH LOVLEY, STEPHEN DOHERTY and newcomer MARK GENOVESE.
