The EcoVoice Festival is three days of performances and activities that build awareness, educate, and call others to action on climate change. The 2022 inaugural festival will take place July 8-10 and be hosted at Loyola University and the University of Illinois, Chicago. The festival will feature the premiere live performance of the New Earth Ensemble and two new song cycles, as well as educational panels and sessions. All events will be open to the general public, and the Sunday afternoon performance encourages family participation. Friday, July 8 7:30 PM Song Sessions: World premieres by Lucas Tuazon and Adam Schumaker Featuring Thomas Alaán, countertenor; Nanae Fujiwara, guitar; Jonathan Hannau, piano with Mika Tosca, keynote speaker. (Tickets: $25/ Students: free) University of Illinois, Chicago: James Stukel Towers Auditorium Saturday, July 9 10:00 am Soundwalk with Paige Naylor, Midwest Society for Acoustic Ecology Guided listening walk around the Loyola University campus. (Tickets: free, but reservations required) Loyola University: Madonna della Strada Chapel (outside) 11:00 am EcoArts Working Group Open to all performing and visual artists, environmental groups and activists, students, and anyone that is eco-curious. (Tickets: free, but reservations required) Loyola University: Coffey Hall 2:30 PM EcoVoice Panel and Discussion Panelists: Mark Pedelty, Eric Leonardson, Norman Long, and Kirsten Hedegaard, with moderator, Thomas Alaán. (Tickets: free, but reservations required) Loyola University: Coffey Hall 7:30 New Earth Ensemble: Mass for the Endangered, Sarah Kirkland Snider Featuring the New Earth Ensemble, conducted by Kirsten Hedegaard with Mark Pedelty, guest speaker. (Tickets: $25/ Students: free) Loyola University: Madonna della Strada Chapel Sunday, July 10 4:00 PM Eco Sing-along with Louise Kelly Family friendly event with singer-songwriter Louise Kelly.
