Brazilian musician Marco Antonio de Carvalho is an award-winning guitarist, singer and composer. Originally from Rio de Janeiro, he toured the US extensively, originally on tour with Paulo Sa (mandolin), and fell in love with Seattle where he has now lived for over 25 years. Marco has produced seven albums with Origin Records.
While his heart is in jazz, ukulele player Neal Chin plays across many genres, including Hawaiian, folk, rock and hip-hop. Neal won the Na Hoku Hanohano Award in 2014 for his contribution to 'The Akira Project,' and
was twice nominated for Ukulele Album of the Year 'for 'Ukulele Paintings' and 'The Spotless Mind.'
Percussionist Ami Molinelli specializes in American, Brazilian and Latin music. Her current musical project Raizes do Choro and Samba, with guitar masters Rogerio Souza and Edinho Gerber, features women composers and the intersection between choro and samba. She co-leads the Brazilian and Jazz ensemble Grupo Falso Baiano.
On his album 'For the Moment': "De Carvalho [...] dwells almost exclusively in mounting relaxed grooves suffused with the endemic melodic tropical sensuousness so characteristic of his native country." - AllAboutJazz.com
