THE NEW CONSISTENT + ISLA WOLFE + MR MARMITE + THE WORST GUYS

Festival Details - "THE NEW CONSISTENT + ISLA WOLFE + MR MARMITE + THE WORST GUYS"...

The New Consistent is a 20 year old musician from the West Midlands described as having ‘exceptionally personal lyrics’ (IndieMidlands) and ‘a sharp wit and unique style of delivery’ (So Young).

On 22nd March he dropped his debut EP, titled ‘Individual Social Accounts And Commentary’ which featured 3 tracks produced by Austin Williams of Swim Deep. It was well received by many blogs online (Loose Cardigan Of Ideas, Happy People, IndieMidlands, So Young etc) and gained him comparisons to other artists such as Loyle Carner, The Streets, The Rhythm Method and Kofi Stone.

He started playing live in June 2019, and hasn’t stopped since, including a generous handful of gigs in the much loved venues of Birmingham, a headline slot on the BBC Introducing stage at Worcester Music Festival, a support slot on the Birmingham date of The Rhythm Method’s tour and the opening slot for Lady Bird in Coventry on their Un-Tour.

The New Consistent played his first headline gig, a Christmas party at The Sunflower Lounge in Birmingham on 19th December, which elevated him to the next level after packing out the room and showcasing a wide variety of new music.
In March of 2020 he got nominated for the Rising Star award at the highly-acclaimed Birmingham Music Awards, and featured in Counteract’s 20/20 vision list, proving him to be one to watch in the year ahead.

Despite the global pandemic, TNC stayed very active, putting out a Remixes Mixtape in lockdown, serving as a teaser to new music, which featured the widely appreciated remix of Ad Blue by Coventry band Feet. The upbeat track and timeless lyricism proved to be a turning point in the year for The New Consistent.

He now looks to end the year strongly, despite the constant disruption to the industry. Long – awaited single Turn Off All The Screens arrived on October 2nd with a music video directed by music legend Jacky P. With the EP announcement just around the corner, and a release campaign any musician on any scale would be proud of (working with Provide, Babmag, Cow, HMV and many more) The New Consistent looks set to breakthrough locally, and potentially further afield.

’You would have to search long and hard to find an artist that is so completely bona fide.’ (Words For Music Blog)

Isla Wolfe is an unsigned artist, writer and producer based in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Growing up in family of musicians, Isla spent her younger years immersed in the live music industry and this inspired her to start singing and teaching herself to play every instrument she could get her hands on. Influenced mainly by neo soul, R&B, trap and hip-hop, Isla is producing, writing, recording and engineering her own music completely independently. She released her latest single “All About You” featuring Phundo Art in late 2019, with a self-produced mixtape coming in 2020!

mr. marmite is for the lovers. Who knows what music you’re going to get but goddam it’ll be good. Maybe you‘ll recognise a song and start to sing along, tap a foot, click your fingers on the 2 and the 4. Maybe you‘ll hate the music, there’s only one way to find out

The Worst Guys are an Alternative Hip-Hop duo based in Birmingham, UK.The music consists of smooth genre-fusing beats, engaging rhythms, and introspective lyrics. They provide a unique sound and take on life, youth, and growing up in the West Midlands.

The duo have been friends since their teen years and launched The Worst Guys in October 2019, releasing the singles “Round The Town” and “No Celebrations” in November 2019 and February 2020 respectively to positive reception. Not to be deterred by the events of 2020, the Guys have remained productive and have a range of content to be released as the year progresses.

Behind the production is Joe, in?uenced by the likes of J Dilla, Flying Lotus, Pete
Rock, and Pharrell Williams. Learning from different genres, he creates his own take on modern Hip Hop. As well as playing playing guitar, bass, and keys, Joe often samples found sounds to create soundscapes. He also delivers indie-in?uenced, Neo-Soul like verses and hooks.

Louis has been writing lyrics for as long as he remembers and delivers intricate verses with a strong vocal presence taking in?uence from conceptual Hip-Hop
artists like Earl Sweatshirt, Tyler The Creator, Mick Jenkins, and Loyle Carner. Louis blends substance and style, exploring modern themes with a classic Hip-hop feel.

Their debut single “Round The Town” was played on BBC WM four times following its release, chosen as Producers Pick and resulting in the duo being interviewed by BBC Introducing. Their second single “No Celebrations” was released in February and has been played on BBC WM, Brum Radio and Hot 97. They have been preparing an EP to follow their latest single “Platform”. The Worst Guys are hoping to start gigging before the end of 2020, as well as selling merchandise and collaborating with artists in the emerging West Midlands music scene.
