Winona Free Dixieland Jazz Festival

The free Winona Dixieland Festival is open to all and will be held in an all weather pavilion at La Canne Park (North of Winona on Hwy 61). Bring your chair or sit at a picnic table. There will be three bands: Noon-1:30 Les Fields and the Turkey River All Stars. Les is the last remaining 'Turkey', but he knows everybody and always has a great lineup. 1;45-3:15 Midwest Banjo Band. Debbie Schreyer member of the Banjo Hall of Fame, is from St Paul, MN. She has played Banjo all her life, many years on the Boardwalk in Atlantic City. Paul Erickson, member of the Banjo Hall of Fame, is from La Crosse, WI. Paul is a headliner at many Banjo Festivals all over the U.S. Dr Ron McLawhon is from Chicago and is very active in the Banjo world.Ron is a big fan of the great Eddie Peabody and likes to play in his style. Dr. Denny Robertson is a retired doctor from Rochester, MN. He is well known and has played Banjo with the Turkey River All Stars. Fred Dodd is from West Salem, WI. He has played Banjo on the River Boats for 25 years. He now plays Banjo in the Gate City Jazz Band. Tom Owens is from St. Paul and will be playing Bass in the Banjo Band. He is a retired River Boat Captain and also plays Washboard. Eric Heukeshoven, from Winona, a man of many talents, will play Trombone in the Banjo Band. 3:30-5:00pm Gate City Jazz Band This popular 8 piece band from Winona also plays the first Sunday (April-November) at the Black Horse ( South of Winona on Hwy 62)
