Join the Museum and YWCA Alaska for a conversation with a diverse group of women who have been keys to the successes of Alaska communities, nonprofit organizations, businesses and government entities.
Morgan Christen was appointed to serve on the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit in 2012 and in 2019 began a three-year term on the Judicial Conference Committee on Federal-State Jurisdiction.
Dana Fabe served on the bench in Alaska for nearly 28 years, and she continues to serve the appellate courts in a pro-tem capacity. Appointed to the Alaska Supreme Court in 1996, she was the first woman to serve on the court.
During her 30-year legal career, Barbara Hood worked for Alaska Legal Services Corporation, the Alaska Attorney General’s Office and the Alaska Court System, served in volunteer leadership roles for several human rights organizations, and now leads a small literary nonprofit.
A graduate of UAA, Elvi Gray-Jackson served on the Anchorage Assembly, was elected to serve Alaska Senate District I, and recently was included in HistoryMakers, the nation’s largest African American Video Oral History Collection.
Jewel Jones held high-level positions in the City of Anchorage Social Services Department and Municipality of Anchorage Department of Health and Human Services, operated a consulting firm and served as Interim Executive Director of Anchorage Community Land Trust. She recently was included in HistoryMakers, the nation’s largest African American Video Oral History Collection.
Vicki Otte was CEO of her village corporation – MTNT Limited. Prior to that, she served as Executive Director of the ANCSA Regional Association and served on the board of her village corporation. Otte currently works on special projects at CIRI.
