About Young Gun Silver Fox This dynamic duo combines the best of two musical worlds: Andy Platts, the charismatic, multitalented frontman of British soul sensations, Mamas Gun, and Shawn Lee, the silver-haired multi-instrumentalist and devoted 70s soft rock fan. Together, they’ve crafted a sound that’s both a tribute to a golden era of music which is refreshingly contemporary. Their music isn’t just nostalgic – it’s alive, uplifting, and evocative. It envelops you like a warm breeze on an early summer evening as you drive along the Pacific Highway watching the sun go down. It’s timeless in one sense, while also referencing a very particular era in popular music. The Golden Era of West Coast Sounds The story begins in the recording studios around Los Angeles in the late 70s and early 80s. This period saw an explosion of pop radio where groups like Hall & Oates, Steely Dan, the Doobie Brothers and countless others created million-dollar records that dominated the charts. These incredibly talented and sophisticated musicians turned out hit after hit which became staples of classic rock radio. Hits such as “Hotel California” (The Eagles), “I Can’t Go For That” (Hall & Oates), “Do It Again” (Steely Dan), “Taking It To The Streets” (Doobie Brothers) and “Africa” (TOTO). Shawn Lee was living in LA listening and luxuriating in these sounds, determining many years later to turn them into something of his own. Moving from the US to London, Shawn finally discovered a musical soulmate in Andy Platts who shared his enthusiasm for the West Coast era. Working together they developed their distinctive sound in the studio - Andy supplying his song writing craft and velvety vocals to Shawn’s multi-layered instrumental arrangements. Young Gun Silver Fox - Timeless Discography Over four albums, Young Gun Silver Fox have carved out a special niche, blending vintage sounds with fresh vibes. West End Coast, their debut album in 2015 introduced their signature style. AM Waves in 2018 was filled with feel-good hits like “Midnight in Richmond” and “Lenny. In 2020, Canyons featuried standout tracks like “Kids” and “Dream Woman.” And their final album Ticket to Shangri-La in 2022 was hailed as a masterpiece with songs like “Still Got It Goin’ On” and “Simple Imagination.” After a recording gap of three years they are due to release their fifth album just days before this show.
