Corona del Mar's boutique classical music festival brings the community professional, historically-informed interpretations of beautiful baroque music in five concerts over eight days on the Southern California riviera. A grand choral Finale celebrating music itself—the power of harmony and more. With international in-demand tenor Nicholas Phan and “luminous” soprano soloist Hannah De Priest, this year’s Festival closer is not to be missed. Handel’s grand setting of John Dryden’s poem celebrating music itself, Ode for St. Cecilia’s Day; his Chandos Anthem No. 4, Sing unto the Lord a New Song; and Concerto Grosso Op. 3, No. 5. George Frideric Handel (1685-1759): Concerto Grosso in D Minor, Op. 3, No. 5, HWV 316 Handel: O Sing unto the Lord a New Song “Chandos” Anthem No. 4, HWV 249b ~intermission~ Handel: Ode for St. Cecilia’s Day, HWV 76 Hannah De Priest, soprano Nicholas Phan, tenor Festival Orchestra & Chorus, directed by Elizabeth Blumenstock Followed by a wine & waters reception on the patio with the musicians; and for Festival Subscribers, the Subscribers’ Dinner.
