The Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum, located in North Judson, IN, will run diesel and steam train excursions for our annual Civilians & Soldiers in History Day, Saturday, July 11. A special diesel excursion will run on Friday, July 10, at 6:00 PM, Central Time. Passengers have the choice of riding in open-air sightseeing cars, vintage coaches, or first-class while rolling down the tracks through the Northwest Indiana countryside. Train excursions are round-trip from the depot and travel about five miles to the Kankakee River at English Lake, before returning to North Judson. The total length of each trip is approximately 45 minutes.
Trains leave the depot on July 11: Diesel engine at 10 a.m., noon, 2 p.m., 5 p.m., 8 p.m. Central and the Steam engine at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. Central
Train excursion ticket prices begin at $14.00.
Numerous displays, from various eras of US History, will be on the museum grounds, where admission is always free. Military and civilian reenactors will explain displays, answer questions and participate in scheduled demonstrations. In addition, HVRM has a restored WWII Pullman Troop Car. Stroll around the grounds to see one of the largest museum collections of working railroad signals and all types of rolling stock, engines, and memorabilia of a by-gone era.
Times and prices for special events vary from regular train excursions. Seating is limited and it is recommended to purchase tickets, in advance, before excursions sell out.
