This Year's Festival Headliner will be Nashville Recording Artist & Musician, TIM ATWOOD....
Thirty-eight year veteran of the Grand Ole Opry stage, Tim Atwood will wow country audiences Saturday August 18th at the Countrygrass Music Festival during two big shows, 3pm and 8pm, at Broken Acres Family Retreat in Jefferson, Maine.
For over three decades Tim performed in the spotlight's fringe backing country music's elite as staff piano man on the most venerable stage in country music history — the Grand Ole Opry. Over the course of his career, Tim has played the Opry stage more than 9,000 times for such country notables as Roy Acuff, Minnie Pearl, Porter Wagoner, Little Jimmy Dickens, Bill Monroe, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Dolly Parton, Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley.
Today Tim leaves the spotlight's fringe for center stage, and the country music community has taken notice. “I got tired of looking at everyone's backside and decided to change my view,” Tim jokes.
After seeing Tim entertain during the Reunion of Professional Entertainers Award's Show last year, TV producer Larry Black and talent coordinator Terry Choate invited Tim to appear as a featured artist on Larry's Country Diner, the #1 rated television show on the RFD Network.
The response the show received from television viewers who fell in love with Tim's rich country vocals, musicianship, quick wit and open acknowledgment of his faith in God, was so great, that a special encore presentation of Tim's taping was scheduled for a rebroadcast a few short weeks later. It was due to the success of these shows that Tim was asked to tape four episodes of Country Family Reunion's Another Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting where Tim performed as an artist alongside The Oak Ridge Boys, Gene Watson, The Isaacs, Rhonda Vincent, Randy Travis, The Whites, John Conlee and Collin Raye.
Tim Atwood is more than a singer — more than a pianist. Tim is an entertainer who loves to hear an audience laugh as much as he loves to hear them applaud. Tim is the recipient of the 2017 Reunion of Professional Entertainers Musician of the Year Award. The Academy of Western Artists recently elected him AWA Instrumentalist of the Year, and the Genuine Country Music Association named him 2017 Fan Favorite. Along with recent nods for Entertainer of the Year and Male Vocalist of the Year, Tim is also riding high on his 2017 country/gospel chart topper Let's All Go Down To The River — a duet with Mandy Barnett.
When he's not touring with Grand Ole Opry legend Jeannie Seely as part of their intimate evening series — just Jeannie, Tim and a piano, sharing stories and songs from their many years in the music industry — Tim entertains audiences with his own show: a dose of high octane country fun, filled with as many tender moments as musical romps. Jeannie Seely herself loves to watch Tim perform a show. “Tim Atwood is the kind of entertainer who will have the audience standing in the aisles, cheering, dancing and clapping their hands one minute, and just as quickly shift gears to a poignant story or a tender ballad that will bring a tear to your eyes and applause to your hands. You just can't help yourself. Tim Atwood is one of the best entertainers I've ever seen, and in my day, I've seen a few.”
Tim began his music career playing gospel music at the age of thirteen for The Harris Family, a family gospel group from East Peoria, Illinois — Tim's hometown. The love for gospel music runs in Tim's blood; Tim's Uncle, Tommy Atwood is a member of the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame as one time tenor singer for the award winning Florida Boys.
Before settling in at the Grand Ole Opry, Tim toured with country legends Mel Street, Lynn Anderson and Jim Ed Brown where he can still be seen regularly on the rebroadcasts of Jim Ed's TV series Nashville On the Road. Tim's other TV credits include Opry Live, Opry Backstage, Nashville Now, Hee Haw, Church Street Station, Pop Goes the Country, Country on the Gulf, Late Night With David Letterman, The Dailey & Vincent Show, Larry's Country Diner and Country Family Reunion's Another Wednesday Night Prayer Meeting. Tim is a regular guest host on the iconic Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree heard every Saturday night by an estimated three million listeners and is currently working on his third album project which includes a tribute to our veterans.
“I'm looking forward to entertaining everyone at the Countrygrass Music Festival in August!” With a smile in his voice Tim confides, “Ever since I met Mainer, Dick Curless, I knew that if everyone in the state were only half as nice as Dick was, then Maine was filled with great people. My plans are to play you some good country music, enjoy your beautiful scenery, make some new friends and eat one or two of your famous lobsters! Yes indeed. That sounds like a good plan to me. I hope you all come to the show on August 18th ready to have a good time, because I plan on giving you one!”
