Miranda Sykes is one of UK folk’s most respected musicians. A career spanning nearly 30 years has seen her play with many of the finest performers in the folk and roots world, including 20 years as double- bassist and singer with the mighty ‘Show of Hands’. Her great musicality and sensitivity means that she is a much sought-after session player; while her beautiful, crystal-clear voice has established her as a leading interpreter of song, whether performing solo or in a larger line up. Now she has teamed up with multi award-winning singer-songwriter and musician Jim Causley who is an all-round entertainer with a unique voice and persona. He has become one of the most well-loved and respected figures of today’s contemporary roots and folk scene. He was described by Mojo Magazine as “the finest singer of his generation” and West Country father of folk, Geoff Lakeman, described him in a recent interview in the Western Morning News as possessing ‘a voice in a million‘. Some accolade indeed! Join Miranda & Jim in celebrating the festive season with some gorgeous West Country carols, medieval and secular carols from around the British Isles, moving settings of Christmas poems by Cornish poet Charles Causley as well as a choice selection of seasonal songs by contemporary songwriters on the UK folk scene.
