This beloved local celebration that’s held at Jockey’s Ridge Crossing in Nags Head features a wealth of activities for visitors of all ages, and is the perfect way to toast the peak of the summer season on the Outer Banks. There’s a lot to do for visitors of all ages at the annual Watermelon Festival, which is free for all attendees. Enjoy games, food, face painting, tie-dye shirt making, arts and crafts, an inflatable waterslide, TONS of watermelon fun, and more. OBX Watermelon Festival is free for guests to attend; however the purchase of tickets is required to play and eat! Compete in classic competitions like seed spiting and watermelon eating and choose from a selection of awesome prizes from businesses all across the Outer Banks. Stop by and share in this summertime tradition, and see just how entertaining Kitty Hawk Kites and the Outer Banks can be, both on and off the sand.
