Victoria Festival of Authors (VFA) is Vancouver Island’s largest, and liveliest, celebration of books and book lovers. For nine years, VFA has hosted authors from across Canada for readings, panel discussions and workshops, and we’re back for our tenth festival from October 15 to 19. Since 2021, our festival has been a hybrid, offering in-person programming of mostly BC-based writers, most also available by livestream for those viewing from home, as well as virtual programming of authors from across Canada. Our in-person events take place at the beautiful Langham Court Theatre, the trails of W_MÍYETEN Nature Sanctuary, with children’s event, in conjunction with Story Studio, taking place at KWENCH. Accessibility is essential to us. We offer sliding scale pricing, with free tickets by request for most programming. With many events guest curated, we ensure our Indigenous and IBPOC curators have creative autonomy. The result is a vibrant, diverse festival of emerging and established writers of poetry and prose.
