Welcome to our first "El Grito Fest" in Santa Rosa! La Máquina Musical and La Musikera are proud to host the first annual El Grito Fest, an exciting, family-friendly celebration of Latino Heritage Month and the Independence Days of Mexico and other Latin American countries. Taking place in the heart of downtown Santa Rosa on Tuesday, September 16th, this community-centered event invites people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds to come together in joy, pride, and unity. El Grito Fest honors the rich traditions, vibrant music, powerful history, and cultural pride of the Latino community in Sonoma County and beyond. Whether you have Latino roots, are part of the extended multicultural community, or simply love great music, food, and connection — you are welcome here. Live Music & Cultural Performances Prepare for an unforgettable night of live entertainment on stage featuring: Los Cadetes de Rigoberto Cantú – Legendary norteño music with deep roots in Mexican tradition Macizo del Arpa – A powerful fusion of harp and regional Mexican sound Los del 7 – Energetic, crowd-pleasing regional hits La Nueva Historia de Tierra Caliente – Tierra Caliente music that keeps the dance floor moving Banda Súper Clave – High-energy banda bringing flavor and rhythm Guarecitas y Viejitos de la Rivera del Lago de Pátzcuaro – Traditional folkloric dance group representing the culture and spirit of Michoacán, Mexico These artists bring the heart of Latin America to Sonoma County with their passion, rhythm, and cultural storytelling through music and dance. Expect a vibrant atmosphere, live sound, and a stage bursting with color, talent, and heritage. The Grito de Independencia – A Symbolic Moment of Unity A highlight of the evening will be the traditional “Grito de Independencia”, delivered by Vice Mayor Eddie Alvarez of Santa Rosa. This iconic call, originally made by Father Miguel Hidalgo in 1810 to spark the Mexican War of Independence, is now a symbol of freedom, identity, and celebration for millions across the world. Hearing the Grito live — surrounded by community, music, and pride — will be a moment of shared connection you won’t want to miss. Food, Community, and Family Fun In addition to live music and cultural showcases, El Grito Fest will feature: Food trucks offering authentic Latin American cuisine Cultural booths with local artists, nonprofits, and community resources Family-friendly activities to engage kids and adults alike Local vendors showcasing handmade crafts, art, and more Come hungry and curious, there’s something for everyone!
